A Moment That Didn’t Happen

Rain had a strange way of slowing everything down.

The noise of the city softened.

The rush faded.

And for a moment…

everything felt quieter than it should.

Khushi stepped out onto the street, opening her umbrella.

She didn’t know why she felt restless.

Nothing had happened.

And yet… something didn’t feel right.

Her steps slowed.

Her mind wandered again.

Back to the same name.

The same thought.

The same question she couldn’t answer.

Ayaan Verity.

“Why does it feel like I’m getting closer to something I don’t understand…?”

she murmured softly.

Behind her—

A car stopped.

Black. Silent. Unnoticed.

The door opened.

And he stepped out.

Ayaan Verity.

Rain didn’t touch him the way it touched everything else.

Or maybe… he just didn’t react to it.

His eyes scanned the street once.

Sharp. Observant.

Like he noticed everything.

Except—

He didn’t notice her.

Or maybe… not yet.

Khushi adjusted her grip on the umbrella, slightly turning as she walked.

For a second—

She paused.

A strange feeling.

Like someone was there.

Close.

Too close.

But when she turned—

There was nothing.

Just people.

Rain.

And passing lights.

“…Weird.”

She shook it off and kept walking.

Just a few steps behind her—

Ayaan stopped.

Not for long.

Just a second.

His gaze shifted slightly.

Not enough to see her.

But enough to feel…

something.

Something unfamiliar.

He frowned almost imperceptibly.

Then continued walking.

Their paths crossed.

Their worlds brushed.

But their eyes never met.

And just like that—

The moment passed.

Khushi walked ahead, unaware.

Ayaan walked in the opposite direction.

Unbothered.

Unchanged.

Or at least… that’s what it looked like.

Because somewhere deep inside—

Something had shifted.

Slightly.

Silently.

And neither of them knew it yet.

Do you think this was just coincidence… or something more?
